Phil & Helen Sutherland

Phil & Helen have lived in Dorking since they got married a very long time ago.  They have three daughters in their twenties and a teenage son that keeps them young!   Phil is the Lead Elder at New Life and leads the Leadership Team.  After nearly 30 years working as an Environmental Scientist, he started working full-time for the Church in 2018.  Helen is the Manager of the Mole Valley Family Centre (formerly a Sure Start Children’s Centre) and is also part of the New Life Leadership Team.  We love food, wine and friends and Phil is a keen Liverpool FC supporter.  Helen is not.

Richard & Jo Taylor

Rich and Jo have lived in Dorking for around 20 years and have a family of 4 boys under 17 years of age. Rich works as a Quantity Surveyor for a small construction firm in Dorking. Jo spends her week running round after the family, working as a nurse at a special needs school, and catching up with various people (usually involving coffee!). Rich & Jo both enjoy spending time with family and friends, being involved in their children’s activities and always look forward to relaxing. They also enjoy working with the young people in our town.

Pete and Dawn have lived in Dorking since 2005, and have been part of New Life Church since it started. Pete is the CEO of a software company and is a Trustee of the charity BEME. Within the church Pete is involved with finance & governance as well as pastoral care, particularly marriage enrichment courses as well as outreach such as Alpha.  He also enjoys the occasional game of tennis, squash or golf and is a keen Chelsea supporter.  Dawn helps to lead the pastoral care and ministry in the church. She is also interested in art and design, crafts and particularly ceramics. She enjoys making pots in her spare time and occasionally runs classes.  They have been married for 40 years and have a daughter at university.  They love to cook and spend time with friends and family and to travel when they can.

Alison & Justin Thomas

Justin and Alison both grew up in Africa, though not the same country! They have now lived in Surrey all their 38 years of marriage, and have two grown up daughters. Justin runs his own financial advice business, and Alison works with him to run the business, when not working on her other job as a graphic designer. They love walking with their dogs, cycling, and trying to keep fit. That and avidly watching rugby and tennis! Or off roading the Surrey Hills in their ancient landrover.  They are also involved as trustees with the Be Me Project. Alison is now heading up what happens on Sundays, as well as preaching and leading, Justin in finance and church governance and pastoral care. 


Caroline Harding

Caroline lives with her husband Tim and two teenage girls in Dorking She is the church administrator working 16 hours a week (variable times) from her home office. She is particuarly involved with Sunday morning organisation, pastrol care and safeguarding. In her free time she can be found walking her dog in the beautiful Surrey hills and trying to capture some of the wonder of God's amazing creation through photography and on her instragram stories.

Pete and Catherine have lived in Dorking since 2013, and have two daughters & a baby boy on the way. They all enjoy being outdoors, walking, swimming, singing and making music. They both work as Speech and language therapists and enjoy working with children and young people. They are currently heading up the worship team, and the Point, a Friday night youth club.
